-Why F1 cars produce these forces and moments

-What is pressure and how does it act?

-The different types of drag (pressure, skin friction, vortex/induced drag)

-How lift/downforce is produced and the penalty that must be paid for it

Learn how to make your car more aerodynamic, reduce your lap times, and WIN!

The instructor of this course has a PhD in aerodynamics, with experience in airplane aerodynamics, automotive aerodynamics, and turbomachinery aerodynamics - experimentally and numerically (CFD) - has lectured at Universities, has published in the top research journals in each respective field, and has peer reviewed journal articles.

Please note, this course is provided by Premier Aerodynamics and not by the F1 in Schools organization.

OpenFOAm Course

OpenFOAM is a completely free CFD software, and it's VERY powerful!

BUT, it's really hard to learn, which is why most never do. Leaving them stuck paying $10,000's for licenses every year!

Our course makes learning OpenFOAM easy, taking you step-by-step through the process, from literally how to install OpenFOAM, all the way to running your own industry-grade DES simulations. This allows you to use as many cells as you like in your mesh, whatever solver, any timesteps, and a whole range of other parameters that would otherwise be out of reach.

We cover:

  • What OpenFOAM is

  • How to install it

  • Geometry importation

  • Domain generation

  • Domain Meshing

  • Boundary Layer Meshing

  • Mesh Refinement

  • Solver Setting

  • RANS (Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes)
  • URANS (Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes)
  • DES (Detached Eddy Simulation)
  • Selecting different turbulence models, like K-Omega, K-Epsilon, SST, K-Omega SST, Spalart Allmaras
  • Selecting appropriate Timesteps
  • Adjusting the Courant number
  • Changing the relaxation factors
  • How to save data from each iteration, and how often you save it (to later postprocess)
  • How to postprocess your data to get informative and great looking images

We go through 12 CFD simulations, ranging from RANS to DES, with you and that you can follow along, step-by-step, to ensure you learn how to OpenFOAM!

AND we give you the Master files so you can copy and paste them for your simulations!

Prerequisites: None.

Computer Requirements: A computer running Windows or Linux with 4 GB of RAM or more.

Description

Learn How To Use OpenFOAM to do CFD simulations all the way up to Detached Eddy Simulations (DES)

OpenFOAm Advanced meshing and motion Course

OpenFOAM is a very powerful CFD tool.

This course unlocks it potential to simulate motion. With this course you can simulate the motion found on cars, in airplane turbojets and turbofans, when two objects change position relative to each other, and even when structures deform.

This course covers the following advanced meshing and motion simulation topics:

  • How to find the bad cells in your mesh and fix them

  • How to monitor the residuals and convergence in real time

  • How to initialize your simulation to make it converge faster

  • Rotating Wall Simulations

  • MRF Simulations

  • Sliding Mesh Simulations

  • Dynamically Morphing Meshes

  • Overset Meshes

  • How to make your simulations run faster

  • Fluid-Structure Interactions

We go through 8 CFD simulations, showing you how to prescribe any motion you need, from linear, to rotation, to even oscillations, AND we give you the Master files so you can copy and paste them for whatever simulations you need!

Prerequisites: Basic understanding of how to run an OpenFOAM simulation

Computer Requirements: A computer running Windows or Linux with 4 GB of RAM or more
