want to get better at aerodynamics?

 Take One of our courses!

We provide courses from beginner to expert in Theory, CFD, and Experiments to help you become better at aerodynamics. See them below!

The instructor of these courses has a PhD in aerodynamics, with experience in airplane aerodynamics, automotive aerodynamics, and turbomachinery aerodynamics - experimentally and numerically (CFD) - has lectured at Top 100 Universities, has published in the top research journals in each respective field, and has peer reviewed journal articles.

OpenFOAm Course 2024

OpenFOAM is a completely free CFD software, and it's VERY powerful!

BUT, it's really hard to learn, which is why most never do. Leaving them stuck paying $10,000's for licenses every year!

Our course makes learning OpenFOAM easy, taking you step-by-step through the process, from literally how to install OpenFOAM in 2024, all the way to running your own industry-grade DES simulations. This allows you to use as many cells as you like in your mesh, whatever solver, any timesteps, and a whole range of other parameters that would otherwise be out of reach.

We cover:

  • What OpenFOAM is

  • How to install it

  • Geometry importation

  • Domain generation

  • Domain Meshing

  • Boundary Layer Meshing

  • Mesh Refinement

  • Solver Setting

  • RANS (Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes)
  • URANS (Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes)
  • DES (Detached Eddy Simulation)
  • Selecting different turbulence models, like K-Omega, K-Epsilon, SST, K-Omega SST, Spalart Allmaras
  • Selecting appropriate Timesteps
  • Adjusting the Courant number
  • Changing the relaxation factors
  • How to save data from each iteration, and how often you save it (to later postprocess)
  • How to postprocess your data to get informative and great looking images

We go through 12 CFD simulations, ranging from RANS to DES, with you and that you can follow along, step-by-step, to ensure you learn how to OpenFOAM!

CFD INTERMEDIATE Course

If you want to learn how to do high quality simulations so you can go straight into industry and accel, this is the course for you. It covers in detail:

  • RANS vs. DES vs. LES, the accuracy of each one, when to use each one, how to use each one, and examples of each that you can follow!

  • Turbulence models like SST and K-Omega, what they are, when to use each one, and why.

  • How to make a high quality boundary mesh, including a simple equation to ensure the right resolution without wasting cells!

  • Parameters you can use to tell if your mesh is high qualtiy, and how to use these parameters to make it better.

  • How to do a proper mesh convergence study, why it is important to do one, and how to use the information to know when you can trust your CFD.

  • Validating your CFD and one simple trick to make your CFD more accurate.

  • Transient simulations, how to do them, how to determine what timestep to use, how long to run it for, and real examples you can follow!

  • How to simulate rotating geometries, including three different ways, AND a real example you can follow!

You will also receive a certificate of completion that you can use to make yourself more attractive to potential employers and increase your chances of getting hired!

Theory Beginner Course

If you want to cover the basics of Aerodynamics, take this course. In it, we cover:

  • The basic properties of air and aerodynamics

  • What the Reynolds number really means and how to use it effectively - something most people never learn

  • Laminar, Transitional, and Turbulent flows, and how transition occurs

  • What the Static Pressure, Dynamic Pressure, and Total Pressure are, and how to use them

  • Wind Tunnel Design

  • Turbulence Intensity and how it affects your Aerodynamics

  • CFD - what it is, why it's used, and how it fits into the larger Aerodynamics picture

  • What Drag is and how wakes break down

  • What lift is and how it is produced

By the end of this course, you will know all the basics of Aerodynamics properly. You will be ready to do normal Aerodynamic analyses and be ready to move to the next step in your Aerodynamics knowledge.
